PP (polypropylene) profiles are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and high-strength plastic products widely used in construction, automotive, and home appliance applications. The production process involves multiple steps, including raw material preparation, mixing, extrusion molding, cooling and shaping, pulling and cutting, and post-processing. Each step plays a critical role in the quality of the final product.

Raw Material Preparation and Mixing

The first step in PP profile production is raw material preparation. High-purity polypropylene resin is typically selected, and appropriate additives such as impact modifiers, UV absorbers, and colorants are added based on product performance requirements. These raw materials are rigorously screened and dried to ensure a moisture content below 0.02% to avoid bubbles and surface defects during extrusion. The raw materials and additives are then thoroughly mixed in a high-speed mixer to ensure uniform dispersion.

Extrusion Molding

The mixed raw materials pass through a hopper into a single-screw or twin-screw extruder, where they are melted and plasticized under high temperature (typically 180-220°C) and high pressure. The rotation of the screw propels the melt forward, forming it through the die into the desired profile cross-section. Mold design is crucial, directly impacting the profile's dimensional accuracy and appearance.

Cooling, Shaping, and Drawing

After the molten PP profile is extruded from the mold, it immediately enters a cooling and shaping device (such as a vacuum setting table or water tank) to rapidly cool and solidify. The cooling rate must be strictly controlled to avoid internal stress concentration and deformation. The profile is then pulled out by a puller at a constant speed to ensure dimensional stability.

Cutting and Post-Processing

According to requirements, the profile is cut to specified lengths by an automated cutting machine. Some products also require surface treatment (such as polishing or printing) or assembly to meet specific application requirements.

The PP profile production process, through meticulous control of parameters at each stage, ensures excellent mechanical properties and durability, a key feature of modern plastics processing technology.
