First, the storage environment is a key factor affecting the performance of plastic welding rods. Plastic welding rods should be stored in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. The ideal storage temperature is between 10°C and 30°C, with a relative humidity below 60%. Prolonged exposure to humidity or high temperatures can cause the rods to absorb moisture or deform, leading to problems such as bubbles and cracks during welding. Therefore, it is recommended that welding rods be stored sealed in their original packaging or in a moisture-proof container to minimize environmental impact.

Second, pre-use inspection is equally important. Before use, carefully inspect the rod surface for a smooth surface free of cracks and impurities. If damage or contamination is found, the rod should be properly treated or replaced to ensure optimal welding performance. Furthermore, plastic welding rods made of different materials (such as PVC, PE, and PP) are suitable for different welding scenarios. When using them, you should select the appropriate welding rod based on the type of welding material to avoid welding failures due to material mismatch.

During the welding process, the method of cutting the welding rod can also affect weld quality. It is recommended to use a dedicated welding rod cutting tool to ensure a smooth and vertical cut, avoiding beveled cuts or burrs, to ensure uniform fusion during welding. After welding, the remaining welding rod should be resealed and stored to prevent exposure to moisture and oxidation.

Finally, regular cleaning of welding tools is also part of plastic welding rod care. Residual impurities or oxides on welding equipment such as welding torches and heat guns can indirectly affect the welding performance of the welding rod. Therefore, regularly maintaining welding tools and ensuring they are in good condition will help extend the life of the welding rod and improve welding efficiency.

Through proper storage, proper use, and regular maintenance, the performance of plastic welding rods can be effectively guaranteed, thereby improving the overall quality and reliability of welding operations.
